Holiday Sale RARE 1950s Rocking Horse by leighswiccanboutique

Holiday Sale RARE 1950s Rocking Horse by leighswiccanboutique

Holiday Sale RARE 1950s Rocking Horse Cookie Jar by Lane and Company

This cookie jar is very rare indeed, and unique from the others in the collectors guide book as well. This adorable vintage Rocking Horse cookie jar is Lane's unmakred version. The only marking is on the bottom of XX which is the Mold marking. It was designed by Lane & Co. in the 1950s, but Don Winton is the one who actually designed the Mold for them.

The reason this particular horse stands out from Lanes other rocking horse's is because the colors. While most were in the soft muted pastel colors with a white base for the horse, this one has vibrant green and reds, and the horse is done in brown. I also noticed some maker flaws with this jar as well. The feet were not completed, there are no hoofs. You can also see the paint mistakes which occurred on the bottom in the red in the third photo down. A True Oopsie cookie jar by the maker which of course makes it more valuable because it was flawed in the making therefor it is truly one of a kind because I cant find any like it anywhere. For that matter I cant find any Lane Rocking horses available at all anywhere!

This cookie Jar does have 2 small chips on the lid which are shown in the last 2 photo's, but is nothing major, and does not detract from this lovely piece at all. Other than that it is in perfect condition. There is no cracks at all in this piece and to be honest I cant even see any crazing either. If there is any crazing its very minimal and cant be seen, at least not by me.

Cookie Jar measures approx. 12 3/4" X 7 1/2"

The Value of the Lane Rocking Horse cookie jars value from 250.00 - 400.00 depending on type, and condition.

When pricing this jar I took into consideration the two small chips, Its unique colors which differ from the others, and the makers flaws which makes it a one of a kind piece.

This will make a wonderful gift for you or any collector, or horse lover. Plus you can honestly say no else will prob ever have one that is as unique as this one here.

McCoy Thinking Hound Dog Cookie Jar No 0272 by MandiLeighs on Etsy

McCoy Thinking Hound Dog Cookie Jar No 0272 by MandiLeighs on Etsy

This is an Original 1970s McCoy Thinking Hound Dog Cookie Jar #0272 in the tan color.

On the bottom of the base it has 0272 USA.
The USA is smaller in size compared to the number 0272 there for my camera would not pick it up very well. My zoom made the picture fuzzy which is why that picture is not included.

These cookie jars came in brown, yellow and tan colors with cold paint decorations. The tan and yellow colors are harder to find.

This lovely piece is in Great condition.
I did a full examination and found NO chips, nicks, or cracks.
The cold paint that they used on the Eyes, Nose, and Mouth has worn off over the years.

It Measures approx. 10 1/2" tall by 8" wide.

Estimated Value on the Tan McCoy #0272 Thinking Hound dog with worn or no cold paint remaining is $30.00-$50.00 depending on its condition.

Since I need to get rid of a large amount of cookie jars, I am pricing this one at the low end of its value.

Info On Doranne Of California:
The factory was first opened in 1951, in Los Angeles during the golden years of cookie jar manufacturing. It operated for 40 years, producing its own molds and distinctive designs. Most common among these was animal cookie jars.
For the unmarked pieces an indicator of a Doranne jar is the ocher, green and brown glazes that they seemed to favor. You can usually identify Doranne of California cookie jars by the company's distinctive mark. Most jars include the letters "CJ" with one, two or three digits following, and often this was followed by the letters "USA". For instance "CJ46 USA". Sometimes the jars were just marked with the "USA".
Since the company produced a mass quantity, of a large variety of Items during the 50s this caused for many unmarked pieces.
Valued $25.00-$35.00

Shipping is calculated on other cookie Jars Sold thru Ebay.
